October is just around the corner and that means that it’s time to go all out with creative photoshoot ideas for Halloween! Halloween is that one time of the year to go completely nuts when it comes to outfits, props and make up. And I am not talking about those tacky Halloween outfits where you dress up as the sexy version of the first things that pops into your brain. I mean dreamy, spooky and beautiful Halloween photoshoot ideas!

ToggleCreative Photoshoot Ideas For Halloween
Get your witch on
Put on a black outfit, get yourself a black pointy witch hat and you’re good to go!
Other props that would work:
- Book of Spells
- Pumpkins
- Witch Broom
- Spooky Candles
Twinning is Winning
Grab your partner in crime and put on matching outfits! For this photoshoot we searched for as many props at home as we could find: a lace dress serving as a table cloth, candles, a nightstand, a painting and a wooden basket!
Props you’ll need for this photoshoot:
- Pumpkins
- Fake Skull
- Dark purple lipstick
I edited all of these photos with my presets Moody and Moody 2 from the Keep on Dreaming preset Collection!
Add some smoke
Adding smoke to a photo can have a really cool visual effect and even more so when it’s coloured smoke. These coloured smoke bombs were already really popular last year but will take your Halloween photoshoot to the next level for sure!
Get creative with a mirror and Photoshop
I always love playing around in Photoshop and with a little bit of practice you can create some actual magic! All you need is a wide enough golden mirror and you’re good to go!
Go all out with Make Up
They say practice makes perfect and I do believe these make up looks aren’t the most easy to achieve but damn do they look cool! This is another Halloween look that’s actually really cheap to recreate. All you need is a cool outfit, preferably white, black or red and add some make up and you’re good to go!
Props you’ll need:
- White make up
- Black make up
Into the Woods we go
All you need to create this eery and spooky effect is a long white dress! The best time to take photos in a forest is in the early morning! If you’re really lucky you might even have some mist rising up from the ground!
Black Widow
Another creative photoshoot idea where you don’t need any extra props! All you need is a black dress, some black lace and maybe a candle stick holder!
Add a Vignette
You can create this spooky effect completely in Lightroom. Simply edit your photo in Black and White and add a vignette!
Carve a Pumpkin
One of the most popular props to use for a Halloween photoshoot is a carved pumpkin! Add some extra pumpkin spice to your photo by adding several small pumpkins!
Create a Moody Self Portrait
For this Halloween photoshoot idea you can even stay indoors! So even on a rainy day you can create a cool photo!
Dia de Los Muertos
Another popular option for Halloween but also one that is a lot of fun to create!
Props you’ll need:
- Water based white make up
- Dia de Los Muertos face tatoos
- Adjustable flower crown
- Pearl Stickers
I hope this article has given you lots of inspo for your upcoming Halloween photoshoot! The most important part of all is to just have fun with it!
Now, I guess it’s time to put on Hocus Pocus and get into the Halloween spirit!
